NOTES -
I want to take a few moments to make my fellow musician friends and
associates aware of a new music-related independent craftsman. Fellow bassist
and electronics wizard Steve Varao and his company Varao Guitar Effects produce
custom guitar effects designed for
the individual player, based on his or her needs. Classic designs are also
available. And of course those
old classic “standard” pedals can be built as well. Mods and upgrades are available for many
pedals that Varao produces. The basic modifications offered begin with upgrading
low quality components in the signal path to audio grade parts. This alone
gives the musician a more transparent and open sound, especially on those
pedals without true bypass. After that it's whatever the performer wants improved or changed. You can see examples of Steve's
gorgeous “boutique” pedal designs and contact him to place an order for your

Also, a big big shout to all of the great fans, local music supporters, and other

Battle for Bobby event. All proceeds from this event will
go towards medical bills and funeral expenses incurred by East Brunswick NJ
resident Bob Connington, who unfortunately has passed away earlier this month
after battling small-cell carcinoma, an aggressive form of cancer. And
for this HollyRock jam, we’re doing something a bit different. A wide
variety of East Brunswick High School alumni musical talent will be performing
throughout the night, backed by an “all-star” rhythm section consisting of
