TWEEDE KAMER came into existence in late 2006 when
musician/songwriter Chris McMillan (guitars, vocals, effects) and
drummer/percussionist Mark Bencivengo, former band mates in the original rock
ensemble Dogs of Pompeii, decided to do something different musically. Mark suggested enlisting the musical skills
of electric bassist Rk Scott, who Mark had played in a handful of projects with in the past few years,
including the late 80's/early 90’s avant-garde/"art core” band
Ultraism. The three musicians got
together one winter evening to try out some jams, and the chemistry was
fantastic. Thus Tweede Kamer was born.
Central and Northern New Jersey is
Tweede Kamer’s primary center of
operations and a growing music scene and the wide availability of internet
resources has contributed to the band developing a cult following. Tweede Kamer
can be described as an indie power-trio with influences from Weezer to Frank
Zappa, from Wilco to Queen, from Bad Brains to Led Zepplin. But yet they employ imagination and musical
technique to meld these diverse influences into their own special brand of
indie rock. Chris’ songwriting skills
provide the band with a wealth of original material that is bold and
emotionally stirring, both musically and lyric wise. However, during live shows, the band often
mixes in a whimsical blend of current alternative rock staples as well as their
own spin on rock classics.
Currently the band has a
substantial cache of live digital recordings from various shows of the last two
years, and they are commencing work on and in the process of recruiting a
producer for their first studio project. To hear Tweede Kamer online, check out the
